Jack served on the faculty at Foothill College in Northern California for 25 years. He has written three textbooks in the area of speech communication. One of them, The Audience, The Message, The Speaker, has gone into its sixth edition.

Jack worked as a disc jockey in his early years and became faculty advisor for the college radio station. He brings this experience into his novel, Hillview.
