Reed Stevens

Twelve bucks and a byline! My first published article paid ten cents a word and hooked me on storytelling. I’ve been an author, a journalist, a radio producer ever since. My commentary has appeared on NPR and my columns in newspapers and online.

My first book, Treasure of Taos, Tales of Northern New Mexico, won the National Presswomen’s First Prize for Fiction. These stories of heroic girls and magic animals take place in northern New Mexico during the Spanish colonial period. The Story of Crazy Nora, my original radio drama about an historic Philadelphia character and the parish riot she inspired, aired on National Public Radio Theater.
