Hello fellow authors! Thank you for taking the time to look at this website, and being curious enough to check out my profile. My academic background is a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis on Body Psychotherapy. Prior to this I also attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and received a degree in the latter topic. I have about 10 years in the fashion industry, and 10+ in social services. Currently, I work as a social worker with the Department of Social Services. I am also a writer and have published a non-fiction on the topic of child abuse and domestic violence. For eight years I ran a website for survivors of domestic violence.
Currently I am working on a novel that is toward completion. It is about a young woman’s journey after having been molested in the Mid-West. The characters of this novel must face mental illness, child molestation, murder, sexual identity issues, and rape. How is that for someone’s life? For most people this is unfortunately pretty darn normal. Yet despite all of this tragedy, the novel is also a romantic story with many endearing factors. There will never be a dull moment, but you will be certain to want to stay with it till the end. Probably not with a cup of cocoa, but perhaps a white candle burning next to you for healing and balance.
In my personal life I have studied yoga for almost 30 years. This has included Hatha, Kundalini, Ashtanga, and Iyengar. I am a cyclist and do about 10-12 miles on the weekend in good weather. Other forms of holistic healing I have used for myself have included: psychotherapy, acupressure, acupuncture, chiropractors, vibrational healing, rebirthing, dance and massage therapy. I have also attended many workshops including “The Forum” in Los Angeles.
My personal philosophy is to be conscious of what we observe and practice in life. Having integrity is of utmost importance. If more people had integrity there would be more peace and harmony in the world and less wars. The gurus say if more did yoga, less would be in hospitals. It is all about observing our lifestyles and creating the world we wish, without bringing harm to others. Finally, finding balance in the world you choose, you will have peace within.
“The crisis is in our consciousness, not in the world” J. Krishnamurti.
