Lita Kurth - Writing Memoir in Flashes
By Shari Clare
South Bay Writers Vice President
Like a bonsai tree is meticulously pruned, flash fiction is a small yet astonishing feat that sparks creative innovation. It summarizes the techniques used in larger works.
Flash fiction is a unique and distinctive genre that encourages quick, concise thinking, combining creativity with skill, and aids in shaping imaginative ideas. It may appear simple, but it can be challenging.
Lita Kurth, a Creative Writing instructor at De Anza College, will guide us through the process.
She co-founded the Flash Fiction Forum, where writers perform their pieces at the WORKS gallery in downtown San Jose. She also periodically teaches memoir courses through CreatorSchoolCA.com.
Her latest work, Writing Memoir in Slashes: Creative Ways to Tell Your True Stories, One Memory at a Time,is available this month. She is also the author of One Creative Writing Prompt a Day, published in 2024 by Calisto Publishing.
